What is a Koru?
A symbol of new life, continuous movement and a return to the origin — and the idea behind our name.
Origin
The unfurling silver fern
In New Zealand, Koru is the name and symbol for the unfurling frond of the silver fern. The word comes from the Māori language.
The spiral form stands for creation, growth and renewal. Its circular movement symbolises continuity; the inward-running line also recalls a return to the origin.
Art and design
Then came Hundertwasser
Friedensreich Hundertwasser, the Austrian artist and New Zealander by choice, designed a Koru flag in 1983 as an alternative to the New Zealand flag.
The organic form, strong colours and connection between nature and design match what we want to achieve with Koru Digital: making technology human, understandable and distinctive.

Koru's founders have more than 25 years of experience in IT projects — from small initiatives to programmes worth hundreds of millions.
We created Koru Digital to develop clear, trouble-free and suitable websites for small businesses. The name stands for new paths, sustainable growth and solutions that develop from the real needs of a business.
